Y-Notts: Charity Website Redesign

Person holding a phone with Y-Notts website

Y-Notts is an independent Nottinghamshire charity that provides grants to young people aged 16 to 30, helping them access training, education, equipment and personal development opportunities.

We redesigned their website to modernise the charity’s online presence, make the information easier to understand, and create a quicker online application process for young people looking for support.

About the Client

Y-Notts supports young people across Nottinghamshire who may face financial barriers when trying to access education, training or opportunities that could help them move towards employment and independent living.

The charity has an important role to play, but the website needed to do more than simply explain what they offer. It needed to feel approachable, trustworthy and easy to use – especially for younger applicants who may be visiting the site to find out if they are eligible for support.

The Challenge

The existing website had started to feel dated and didn’t fully reflect the people Y-Notts wanted to reach.

The charity needed a website that felt more modern, more accessible and more in line with its target audience. It also needed to make the application journey clearer, as the previous process created more admin than necessary and made it harder for applicants to take the next step.

There was also an SEO opportunity. As a Nottinghamshire-based charity, it was important that the website had stronger foundations in place so more people could find Y-Notts when searching for local grants, funding and support.

Our Strategy

We approached the project with three main goals: modernise the website, simplify the application process, and improve visibility in Nottinghamshire.

The website was redesigned with a cleaner, more user-friendly layout that made the charity’s purpose easier to understand. We wanted the site to feel supportive and welcoming, while still giving applicants the practical information they needed.

A key part of the project was creating an online application process. This made it quicker and easier for people to apply, while also helping the charity manage applications in a more organised way.

From an SEO perspective, we built stronger foundations into the website, helping Y-Notts improve its visibility for relevant searches around grants, funding and support for young people in Nottinghamshire.

The Result

y-notts.org.uk

The new Y-Notts website gives the charity a clearer, more professional and more accessible online presence.

It now makes it easier for young people to understand what support is available, check whether they may be eligible, and submit an application online without unnecessary friction.

For the charity, the new application process also helps reduce admin and keeps everything more streamlined behind the scenes.

Overall, the website gives Y-NOTTS a stronger digital foundation and helps make their support more accessible to the people who need it.

Web Design for Charities in Nottingham

Y-Notts is a good example of how a charity website needs to do more than look good.

For charities, the website has to explain the mission clearly, build trust quickly, and make it easy for people to take action – whether that means applying for support, making a donation, volunteering or getting in touch.

As a local agency, we support organisations with web design in Nottingham and build websites that are clear, practical and designed around the people using them.

We also offer web design for charities, helping non-profits and community organisations create websites that communicate their impact without overcomplicating things.
